Your Deep Cleaning Checklist

Living during a pandemic is a time like no other. Hygiene and cleanliness become ever important in the fight against the spread of Covid-19. Keeping your home clean, and deep cleaning regularly, should be a top priority. Read on for your deep cleaning checklist that will help keep your family healthy:

Essential Cleaning Items: What do I need to deep clean my home?

  • Scrub pads, old towels and cleaning cloths
  • Your favorite anti-grease spray
  • Dish soap
  • Rubber gloves
  • Two buckets for dirty and clean water
  • A spray bottle with vinegar and water in equal parts
  • A small sized scrub brush
  • Old newspaper
  • Lemons
  • Bathroom cleaner

What do I need to do to ensure a deep clean of my home?

The following check-list should help ensure your home is thoroughly cleaned:

1. Dust and vacuum

This includes anywhere that is hard to reach such as ceiling fans, light fixtures, and above tall furniture. You should also ensure to remove cushions from chairs and couches and vacuum up all the crumbs and hair that might have found their down the sides and under the couch. 2.

2. Descaling

Ensure to descale faucets, showerheads and any metal within the home with vinegar. This can make a huge difference to how clean your home looks. You can also use toothpaste for the extra shine.

3. Windows

Vacuum window sills and remove any cobwebs. Wipe down with vinegar solution and newspaper to avoid wipe stains.

4. Bins

Bins and garbage cans can sometimes become dirty and smelly. Make sure to sanitize and wipe these days to prevent any unwanted germs and smells from remaining in your home.

5. Cabinets and drawers

Cleaning out your cabinets and drawers may also call for a declutter at the same time. Make sure you empty them all and wipe them down before replacing belongings.

6. Oven and stovetop

The stovetop grates are likely to be greasy if you use them regularly. Remove these and soak them in hot and soapy water. You should then scrub down all surfaces and knobs with soap and water and then wipe down with a wet cloth. If you have a hood fan, then this will also need to be cleaned with the same process.  Stubborn food and grease can be tackled with lemon and vinegar.

7. Sinks

Your sinks, whether in the bathroom or the kitchen, are going to need a good clean. This is especially the case after a deep cleaning session. You should wash it out with hot soapy water. Be mindful of any crevices. A spray with bleach can help remove any stubborn stains or dull marks.

8. Toilet and bathroom

Spend time cleaning the bath and toilet and it can make a huge difference to how clean and hygienic your home feels. Pay attention to behind the toilet where dust and hair can accumulate. Using bath specific cleaner can also help remove stubborn grime and make your bath more inviting.
